That Time We Met

Directed by Nick Lieberman

“Buzz buzz”

As a huge fan of both romantic comedies, as well as action movies (& scifi!), this was an absolute blast to read. I’ve always gravitated to comedy and have built a career out of it.

However, in the last few years I’ve discovered a knack for building and shooting action & stunt sequences. On the series Our Flag Means Death we had all manner action sequences to shoot and I was asked to extend my time in New Zealand to shoot extra material for them.

I apologize that I didn’t have time to edit down the below set of picture. You can scroll down past it to get to a few other sections.

As with all projects, the anchor is always the characters’ experiences. We feel what they feel. The chaos & madness is expressed through them.

The action sequences are also a journey unto themselves.

As the characters change, the way they handle the action changes.

I rewatched Frozen with the family last week and was struck with how much Olaf there is in Craig.

Obviously strong comic relief, but also innocent, thinks of himself as quite knowledgable and… not human.

CRAIG

Iconic Moments & Sticking the landing.

So much of how we digest movies is about the handful of scenes that we remember afterwards and, of course, how we feel in the end. There are so many insane scenes to build on. Craig & the blender, the bad first date being interrupted by a storm of gunfire. I love highlighting the scenes that are the proverbial “legs of the table” and building around them.

Amor fati.
